The world is in serious trouble and the only thing that will fix it now is compassion. Compassion is the way of heaven and is also the way of our true nature. Most people are nice to their families, their friends, co-workers and even strangers. This type of human love is already very good but I’m sorry to say it’s not good enough! It’s not on par with our true God nature. To live at this level (can begin immediately), our kindness will now have to come up a notch to include all living beings. This may sound simple and is, but to fully understand and put into action will require nothing less than a major paradigm shift in human consciousness. The shift will have to happen soon because the same consciousness that has been ingrained in human existance for thousands of years to present day has also been the source of unimaginable suffering for thousands of years...to present day. As this trend continues unabated into the so-called modern times, the last century alone would see a hundred million or more people die in senseless wars, genocide and war related starvation. And if that wasn’t bad enough, something even more sinister is fast creeping into our awareness. Under the guise of sustainability, corporate profits and willing governments have altered the earth's surface, seas and air more in the last 50 years then in all at human history combined! In this short time period we have cut down huge tracks of oxygen producing forests worldwide and bullied ourselves into almost every wilderness lands in search of atmosphere destroying fossil fuels. We have fished out and polluted the oceans, lakes and streams. Agricultural lands have been poisoned and sterilized by widespread use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and even strychnine—weeds, insects, small mammals systems and birds are destroyed to ensure nothing gets in the way of high yielding monocultures. This kind of greed and blanket destruction of the last half century has already led to untold animal extinctions. Animal species that had endured profound calamic natural climate changes for tens of thousands of years could not survive human pressure of the last 50! Not surprisingly, it may now be our turn. The human species, albeit unconsciously has embarked on its own path of self- annilation. If we don’t stop this collective madness soon we will not only destroy ourselves but most life on the planet. Earth could be transformed into a dead planet taking millions of years to return to any semblance of the state it was in just a 100 years prior. The purpose of this writing is to bring awareness to the situation, awareness to the urgency and of course, offer a solution. By urgency I mean we have only a few years to make the “paradigm shift” and implement the necessary actions before it’s to late. Fear and hell has been used as a purveyor of religion and government power for thousands of years. (Instead of fearing God, which is illogical, how about being fearful of not doing the right thing!). In truth, this not about fear, it’s about a simple observation of the natural laws of "cause and effect" I have nothing to sell other than my dislike for insane, unnecessary suffering of humans and animals alike. This writing is a wake up imperative. We must act now. Our actions must be in alignment with our true inborn God nature. In this way we become living Gods and living Buddhas. We will begin to see the non-happenstance workings of the universe and begin to take responsibility for our actions instead of waiting around for Jesus and the Buddha to return and save us from our own creation. A creation born largely out of ignorance, lust for power and greed. These qualities come from the state of darkness and ignorance and forgetfulness of who we really are. It’s time to remember that we are beings of light and act accordingly. How do we do this? How do we extend our compassion to include all living beings? Very simple, stop eating them! Stop causing first, the terrible suffering, then killing and then eating of our younger, less grown up brothers and sisters, the animal kingdom. They like us have a purpose to live. They like us feel pain and fear death. Please do not believe in any ideology, tradition or religion that may say contrary to this because this action goes against the very grain of the universe and any form of divinity that you may believe in. Yes, animals do kill each other to live but we’re not animals we’re humans. Humans are supposed to be more evolved and grown up and the only way we can truly express this quality is through love and compassion—not brute force. Presently our spiritual growth is lagging behind human intellect and technology and must fast catch up. With centuries of existence and membership in the billions, the world’s traditional religions have proven to be not up to this task and should now (ironically) step aside and take a back seat to the ways of heaven—compassion for all living beings! The quickest way to do this is to eat vegetarian, simply because it is in every way the right thing to do. We don’t see this truth because humans have been deluded and misled into thinking that animals somehow don’t count and are therefore exempt from the laws of “cause and effect” or “reap as you sow.” This is a non-truth. Every thought, speech and action we entertain engages the process of creation and its consequences—positive or negative. We are creating our present reality on an individual and collective level at every moment and with every thought. We do so consiously or unconsiously, at the helm of creation or the whim of creation. The present earth condition is a reflection of the collective consciousness of everyone on the planet. That’s why every master that has walked this planet always cautioned us to be very careful how we think, speak and act, because it will eventually come true! Just in case we didn’t know how to think and act, they even supplied us with moral guidelines such as the five precepts of Buddhism and the ten commandments of the bible. The modern day scientist also teaches this same law of cause and effect applying to the physical dimension—“every action has an equal and opposite reaction.” However, it should be noted that even the physical dimension is under serious questioning by our top minds—the quantum conundrum people. Apparently physicality may not be so physical and science and spiritual may not have be so indifferent. This writing is mostly about the unseen spiritual reasons why we must eat vegetarian—karma—killing and suffering leads to killing and suffering. In the last 20 or more years many books have been written on the obvious and practical benefits of eating vegetarian. Here are just a few: Climate change —cattle rearing generates more global warming greenhouse gases than transportation (UN News Centre). Because we do not have time to wait for the production of better cars and industry improvements, eating vegetarian is the obvious and immediate solution to the many current environmental problems. Due to lack of leadership and courage, politicians rarely touch this topic even as it is destroying the world! Health and beauty—while the scientific community works hard and spends millions of dollars trying to find cures for cancer, heart diseases, stroke, obesity or the simple common cold, meat consumption is fast becoming the prime suspect for almost all illnesses! A study has shown (Loma Linda University) that vegetarians are living on average 7 years longer than meat eaters and vegan vegetarians live 15 years longer! Why is this inexpensive (actually money saving) prevention not the main focus? I believe there is too much research money involved and it would also somehow be “professionally incorrect.” Beautification of the earth—something like one third of the ice-free surface of the world is used for cattle production. We cut down and burn thousand year old rainforests for a few years of cattle grazing at a time when they are desperately needed carbon sinks for the already out of control human caused C02 emissions. World hunger—Livestock consume 70% of all the grain produced. If we fed people instead of livestock no one would go hungry. (UN News Centre). The practical benefits of eating vegetarian are endless and as I previously mentioned my own personal focus is mostly spiritual. The world is at a pivotal stage. Compassion can create heaven on earth (immediately) and violence of any kind will create hell (continually). Millions of people today are turning to the way of compassion while too many are still lagging behind—in the US alone 22 million animals die each day to satisfy our palates of ignorance. If there is any truth to the words of Jesus—“we must reap as we sow” or the Sanskrit equivalent—“karma”, then it’s “paradigm time” for the younger generation to step up to the plate (no pun intended), eat vegetarian and bury the harmful parts of tradition, failed ideologies, and misunderstood religions. “Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival of life as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” |
